15 Years of Aleberry. It's been good. It's been rough. It's been pretty freakin' awesome.

🎂 15 years of helping startups & funds get their sh*t together, all while looking good!

When we launched Aleberry in 2009, straight out of our shared college house with advertising diplomas in our hands, we had no idea what we were doing. Those early years involved a lot of learning, mistakes, learning from mistakes, and some awesome more experienced folks that put us on the right path. Since then, we’ve been fortunate to celebrate 1.5 decades of working with incredible founders & investors. This celebration is not just for our team, but for the innovative companies & funds that have achieved incredible success and trusted us on their journey - often on multiple ventures!

Since 2012, our PortCos have secured over $4 Billion in capital and 17 have exited (… it’s actually closer to $5B and we don’t count our early “figuring out how to adult” years…).

Over the last 15 years, we’ve seen some trends in the tech world:

✔️ Rounds are getting larger. $1M used to be totally fine for a minimum Series A ask, now it’s more common to see $5-15M, and sometimes more - depending on the industry. Seeds & early-stage rounds don’t even start below $1M.

✔️ VCs are investing in fewer companies and with larger check sizes, often focused on follow-on funding for previous portfolio companies.

✔️ Content is definitely queen! Companies are realizing that showing expertise with longer-form content focused on their industry, solutions, and customer problems is key to both fundraising and building traction.

✔️ Sectors that are hot AF right now: 🚀 Aerospace & Defense 💰 FinTech 🏥 Healthcare

✔️ Hardware and software are playing together more - across industries, as innovation on both sides is helping to improve the other.

✔️ Messy data rooms are out. They’ve never been in, but more investors are getting annoyed with (& commenting on cluttered IR materials).

…NDAs are still out, and always have been.

Along this journey, we’ve also been fortunate to adopt some dogs, foster some dogs, pet many dogs, and help incredible organizations like Rescued Pets Movement and BUILD.
